4 1/2 months

Wow, the time sure does fly on by. The babies are now 4 1/2 months old. They are growing and changing everyday.

It's been a long time since the last post because things have been crazy hectic around here. Javier left for a training exercise for two weeks. It was hard going, but the boys and I survived. I'm a little worse for the wear, but the boys took it in stride for the most part. I had to hire someone to help me because it's still just too much work for me to handle alone. Between the boys eating on different schedules and sleeping on different schedules and me having to pump milk every 3-4 hours.... well, there just isn't time to do all the other things that need to be done. With the hired help, I was able to take a short recovery nap, cook myself a semi-decent lunch and/or supper, and have much needed help with the bedtime routine.

After Javier returned, life has started to resume its normal pace. It's great to have my other half, who knows what needs to be done, and in some cases, can handle the boys better than me.

The weather has been improving a great deal, so Javier has been able to take the boys out for a run once in a while. They are liking the experience every time they go out. Jacob usually ends up falling asleep and Joaquin likes to look around and check out everything. In these pics, they are wearing the outfits their Tia Vangie sent them. They are perfect for taking the boys out for a stroll. We affectionately call them the banana suits because they are covered from head to toe in yellow.

In fact, the weather has been so nice that we even took them to the park yesterday. There is a small park across the street from our house and I've been dying for the weather to get nice so we could take them out there. This was their first time to the park. I think it was a success.

Joaquin wasn't a huge fan of the swing. He just kinda sat there. Jacob liked the swings.... but then again, Jacob likes pretty much anything.

We put them on the slide and they hung out on the park bench together too. In these pics, they are wearing the Easter outfits from PoPo Sammy and Welita Lupita.

They are just perfect and make the boys look so handsome. Jacob is wearing a cap from our good friend Sherri, who happens to be an Aggie. Gig 'em!! The cap doesn't quite fit Joaquin's head yet, but he looked really cute in his newsboy cap. It was such a bright day that we put on their little sunglasses. Have to protect those precious eyes.

Yesterday, they had a well baby visit at the doctor's office. Jacob is 23 1/2 inches long and weighs 14 pounds 9 ounces. Joaquin is 24 1/2 inches long and weighs 15 pounds and 6 ounces. The doctor is pleased with their growth and weight gain. Little Jacob got his first round of immunizations. He got two shots in the thigh and he didn't like it at all. Joaquin did not get the shots because he was a little congested and the doctor wanted to wait until he clears up a bit more. On that note, little Joaquin is having a little trouble breathing from time to time. We went home with a nebulizer and breathing treatments that we give him to help him breathe. He doesn't have a diagnosis of asthma as of yet, and we hope it doesn't come to that, but we are taking care of it the best we can for now.

Now that Javier is back, the countdown has begun for our move. We leave in 3 weeks and there is no time to waste. We have a million things to do and not enough time to complete them. This will be our most complex and stressful move to date because we have never done it with two babies before. It will surely be a test of our organization and teamwork skills.

In other news, Javier has one more training trip to go. He's going to Gettysburg next week for two days to do a battle study. The boys and I will be here. I'll have help for one of the days, but I'm not too worried. After two weeks, I think we can handle two days just fine. Next weekend will be a special treat. We are going out to a nice dinner with Javier's other classmates. It will be our first time out without the boys. We have a trusted babysitter coming to take care of the boys, but I'm sure we will be thinking of them every minute while we are gone.

Well, I suppose that's all I have for now. I hope the next few weeks go smoothly and without too much stress. Life is good.
