Yes, it's been a while since we updated. All is well. Life is busy. I'm working on a new post to give a sneak peek into our daily life. It's a work in progress. I hope to have it done soon.

We just figured out how to post video taken from my camera. I didn't realize it was so easy. I haven't really been taking a lot of photos or videos lately, but I am going to make a better effort to take more. We definitely want to preserve these memories. Already, I have started to forget how tiny my babies were when they first came home. Here is a video of my little Jacob. He's hanging out on the couch and looking so cute. His little arms and legs are so small. It makes me a little misty-eyed to watch it.

I can hardly wait to post more pics and video!

In other news, life is trucking along. I wouldn't say that things are getting easier, just more predictable. We are getting a routine down, but it's not a fun one. It's still pretty grueling and exhausting. The babies are still pretty gassy, but getting better little by little. I love the weekends because Javier is home to help with the babies and allow me to get more sleep. I usually leave the house a couple times to run errands, buy supplies, and pick up dinner. It's nice to get out of the house since I don't during the week.

I can hardly believe the babies are 7 weeks old today! They have grown so much and show us a little more of their personality every day.

Video Test

We want to see if we can post a video. If this works, it is video of Joaquin and Jacob when they were 2 days old. It starts with Joaquin (I'm holding him and the camera) and then pans over to capture Jacob in mommy's arms. We shall see...

This video was shot on Latrice's camera that she received for her birthday this year. One of the drawbacks is that it doesn't have sound.

Exhausting

In one word, we are EXHAUSTED! Latrice and I are being pushed to our physical limits by these 2 little guys. They are a handful! I think these boys are in cahoots against us. If one is hungry, the other is not. If one is sleeping the other one will cry to wake him. If one is fussy the other is sleeping peacefully. They are NEVER on the same schedule! We are CONSTANTLY tending to one or the other. HOWEVER, we are ENJOYING every minute of it!

Parenthood to date has been fun, challenging, but most of all Life-Changing. I have never known the type of love it is to look into someones eyes and love them so much and want to do everything you can to make their lives better. It is a different love. It is unlike the love for your pet, your hobbies, your parents, siblings, friends, or spouse. It is in a place in your heart you never knew you had (but suspected it) and it makes you do things you didn't know you were capable of doing. You can somehow be awake for days and skip meals and not realize it until someone mentions it. Showers are a luxury and uninterrupted sleep is unattainable. However, somehow, our tiredness disappears when our boys want to be held. Our hunger vanishes when you have to choose between feeding them or feeding yourself. Sleep is trivial when you know you have to get up at 0200 in the morning to soothe them to sleep because they are having tummy problems. Your world disappears and you are a part of theirs and somehow you love every minute of it as soon as you look into their eyes and they back at you. It is truly magical.

Our boys are doing well for the most part. They are having some gas issues. After every feeding they get gassy and very fussy. Joaquin in particular is very uncomfortable after he eats. When he does fall asleep it is very unrestful sleep and he spends hours grunting and tossing and turning in his sleep. It is heartbreaking to watch such a young boy experience so much pain so early in life. We have tried various remedies but have had very little luck. We received some "gripe water" today and we are trying it out. We hope it works.

The holidays were great for us and the boys. My parents and youngest sister came out for a visit. Actually, my mom came out for a month to help us out and it was FANTASTIC. She really helped us out with the daily chores of living and her cooking was excellent. My dad really enjoyed his visit and he was reluctant to get on the plane. They both really connected with the boys well and they left an impression on us. My sister was really helpful as well and she did an awesome job of being a great guest and help to us.

Well, I better get going. I am on watch right now. Latrice is getting some very much needed sleep and I can hear Joaquin grumbling. I just wanted to get on and post a quick note.
Enjoy the pics!!
