My, oh my, where does the time go? A good friend of mine told me that going from 2 to 3 children is harder than any other transition (she has 5 children). And I believe her. Whew. The word "busy" took on a whole new meaning when Sebi entered our little world. I could hardly believe that we had not made a blog entry since Sebi was born. The days seem to fly .....but I do promise to be better about updating this blog from now on.

So....where do I begin. Sebi is now 4 months old and he is definitely a momma's boy. I love seeing how his face lights up when he sees me. Nursing him has been very emotionally rewarding. He's very chubby and also on the tall side for his age. At all of his baby checkups, he has measured at the 75th% for height and 85-90th% for weight. At 4 months of age, he is wearing clothes that his big brothers wore when they were 7-8 months old. This leads us to believe that he will eventually outgrow his big brothers and literally be momma's big boy. He is not sleeping through the night yet. I just talked to a mother of a 4 month old yesterday whose baby sleeps from 8pm til 7am every night. And another mother who lays her baby down wide awake and the baby falls asleep on her own. I don't know what is supposed to be normal, but none of that exists for me. Sebi wakes at around 3am and 6am for feedings everyday. He absolutely will not fall asleep on his own. He is like Joaquin in that he usually has to cry for 5-15 minutes before falling asleep. Recently, I have been able to pump milk and give it to him in a bottle. This has been great because Javier has a chance to feed him and I have a chance to get out of the house for more than 2 hours at a time. He does not like to be left alone at all. He will spend time in his bouncy seat or bumbo seat, but he prefers to be able to see his mommy or brothers at very close range.

Speaking of his brothers, the big boys have also been doing well. They love their little brother very much. Jacob frequently kisses Sebi. Joaquin likes to play near him, but sometimes I have to redirect him so that he doesn't inadvertently hurt his baby brother. They always remind me that they need personal attention too, so I do my best to get some rough play and snuggles in with the big boys when Sebi is sleeping or playing contently near us. In recent news, Jacob fell off the office chair and broke his elbow. He has been in a cast for 4 weeks and will get it off in 2 more weeks. He has taken it like a little trooper. He has never complained about itchiness or discomfort. He did dunk it in water one day and I had to take him to the doctor's office to get it cut off and they recast his arm. But for the most part, he has adjust fantastically and pretty much does whatever he wants. He needs some help to get up and down from his chair and his bed, but otherwise, he's pretty self-sufficient.

For those that want to know, Joaquin still has not had a haircut. It's a great length and looks great in a ponytail. Yes, people still think he's a girl regardless of the clothes that he wears. We have been thinking about cutting it, but Javier wants to wait til he gets back from deployment next year. So it looks like the long hair will stick around for a while.

On the subject of hair, Sebi's hair is really something else. He has CURLY hair!! We didn't think it was possible since my hair is so straight and Javier's hair is very straight, but it seems like the Garcia genes fought for a little dominance and prevailed in giving Sebi curly hair. It is so fitting that his middle name "Samuel" comes from the grandfather who also endowed him with his curly locks. We don't know if he will have a long or short "do". Only time will tell.

As for some of the pictures in this blog, many of them are taken at various parks that we take the boys to. I like the picture of Jacob holding a caterpillar. Both boys are fascinated by bugs and like to poke at them and pick them up if they can. It kinda creeps me out, but I try not to discourage their curiosity. There are a lot of pictures of Sebi. I love the ones of Javier holding him in the air. Sebi loves it and often laughs and squeals when his papi lifts him high in the air. For Easter, we had brunch at the Officer's Club on base and the boys looked for eggs. They looked great in their light blue guayaberas.

Well, I'm sure there is plenty that I'm leaving out. Perhaps Javier will do an entry if I have left out too many important details. For now, our busy little family life calls. The big boys are waking up from nap and I need to get going. Bye for now. I promise to update more frequently.
