Another update

It has been a long time since one of us posted on the site. So what a treat, now you all get 2 items to read. Life has been good for Latrice and I. I have been back from my latest deployment for 3 months. The time has gone by a lot faster than it did while I was deployed! Latrice and I are now back in a rhythm. I have certain chores and "honey-do's" on the nights that she works and she does her thing on the days she is off. It is a unique situation because she is still working nights at the VA hospital and I am working days atMobilization Command, so, our sleeping patterns and the days we spend together are "scheduled". My job for the last 3 weeks has been exhausting. I am now officially a desk jockey. I have been doing an investigation and it has ballooned into a massive project. I am finally putting it together and discovered that I have about 100 pages of text to organize into a meaningful mass of information. I was looking for a stapler but think I will need a nail gun to keep it all together! Anyway, I digress. Since my return I have become a little bit more domesticated. At night I find myself cleaning up the kitchen, doing the dishes, and putting away the folded laundry. On the nights that Latrice works, I am also the one in charge of making sure we are both fed and watered before Latrice heads out to work. I have been doing this to prepare for our upcoming pregnancy. In preparation I have also begun to read a "Father-to-be"book so I will know what to expect during our pregnancy. However, what I do know is that once Latrice is with child, I will be with more housework! I have been keeping myself pretty busy since my return. I play indoor volleyball in an intramural league out in town on Mondays, I play basketball in an intramural league for the Marine Corps about twice aweek, I play golf in a League at work on Tuesdays, and I am a member of the golf association for the local golf club where I am a member. I have been going to the gym regularly to stay in shape and play better golf. I have also discovered that at the age of 35, my metabolism has slowed to a crawl. Besides, I am aMarine and I am supposed to stay fit. Oh, I am also looking forward to fishing season this year! An Aggie buddy of mine at work has a fishing boat and we have been talking about catching some good catfish at the local lake about 3 miles from my house. Yep, I am definitely an outdoors-man! In other news, we just filed our taxes and I am surprised every year when I realize how much of our money goes to Uncle Sam. We could have paid for a brand new 2008 economy car. It is ridiculous! Here is some better news: We booked our cruise today for our 10 year anniversary. We are both very excited and looking forward to this unique experience. I have spent many nights on a ship, but it was an amphibious ship and we went to the Persian Gulf. So, I am hoping that this is a lot more fun! That is all for now. It is a Friday night and I am procrastinating before I get to the dishes. My bride is at work and my night will consist of light housework, hanging out with our cat, and watching The Masters' highlights from today's round. Anyway, the purpose of this blog is to share our pregnancy progress with all of our friends and family. As soon as it happens, we will notify our family first, then our friends, then the blog community. So stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed!

Hello

It's been a while since I put an entry on here. Javier has been nagging me about it.

Anyway, there is not much new here. Nothing to report on the baby making project. A couple of weeks ago, we went to Chicago for a few days and that was a lot of fun. We did the usual touristy things.... went up the Sears Tower and John Hancock building. We took a Segway tour and that was probably the most fun thing we did. I secretly want one, even though I have no real use for it. We went to a couple of blues bars, ate out, stayed at a fabulous hotel on the Magnificent Mile. We did not get to see the Oprah studios like we intended. Just too much to do and not enough time. The weather was brisk but mostly sunny. It's a beautiful city that if it weren't so cold in the winter, I might like to live there. It's definitely on my favorite city list along with San Francisco and Paris.

Other than that, we're just working and hanging out. March Madness is over and golf watching season has begun. We're excited about our upcoming move in July, and even more excited about taking a 7 day cruise to Cozumel and Jamaica for our 10 year anniversary. After that, we'll spend a little time in South Texas with family. Then we'll head back here to move to Virginia.

There is a lot happening this year, a lot to look forward to.

I'll end this post with a wish for Spring to really arrive. Javier reiterated to me the other day that he never wants to live this far north. It's almost mid-April and there is snow in the forecast for this weekend!
