New happenings
Another post in less than a week? This is a record for me. Hmm....I don't even know if anyone "out there" is still reading this blog. It would be nice to know if any friends and family are still reading.
Today, Jacob finally got a tooth!! Actually, it was my friend who noticed it when she stopped by for a visit. Jacob starting gnawing on her knuckle and she felt the sharp tooth. I put my finger in his mouth and sure enough, there it was. It's hard to see because it's barely above his gumline and it's sitting a little back on the gums. I tried to get a picture, but Jacob was not being very cooperative.
It's his bottom front right tooth that has come in. It just serves as another reminder that my little angels are growing up. Soon they won't even be babies anymore. They will be toddlers before I know it. I'm trying to soak up all their baby goodness while I can.
In other news, Joaquin's allergist called with the results from his bloodwork. He lab results show that he is allergic to peanuts and eggs, but it does not indicate what his allergic symptoms would be or how severe his allergic reaction would be. We are not really wanting to find out by trying those foods, so we are going to try and avoid those foods for a while. The doctor says that Joaquin could grow out of the allergies, so that is our greatest hope right now. The lab results did show that Joaquin is mildly allergic to cats, but not to a significant degree. The doctor does not feel that we need to find another home for our cat at this time. That is good news to Javier because he has really been dreading saying goodbye to our cat, Bonita.
The days are hotter and hotter lately. While going to the pool might be a nice option for keeping cool, the stormy weather has made us housebound. We are going to try and go to the pool on Friday, weather permitting of course. The boys love the water and I like getting them out of the house. I'm crossing my fingers for good weather.
The only other thing in our near future is our trip to Texas. We are excited to get back to south Texas to visit family. It will be the boys' first trip by air, so it will definitely be an adventure. I hope it goes smoothly. I will try to remember to document the event with pictures and video.
Nothing else to report, so I'll sign off. Until next time,

8 months
Wow, I can hardly believe my baby boys are 8 months old. People always said that this time would fly by and it really has. Our computer screensaver shows all of our pictures since the babies were born, and when I see the pictures of the babies when they were newborns, I am amazed at all that has happened between then and now. When I look in their sparkling little eyes, my heart is filled with warmth and love. Their personalities are becoming more apparent with each passing week.
It's been a while since I updated baby news and routines. Well, the boys are eating baby food and it is going well for the most part. Here is a rough run down of their daily routine:
5:30-6am awake -->playtime until...
7:15 Breakfast of organic oatmeal with pureed fruit, organic veggie
7:45 Breastmilk ~4-5 ounces
8:30 Morning nap (lasts between 45 min to 1 hour and 15 min)
9:30-10am awake -->playtime until....
11:30 Lunch of organic veggie, organic fruit
11:45 Breastmilk ~4-5 ounces
12:15pm Playtime
1:30-2:00 Naptime (lasts 30 min to 45 min)
2:30 Awake -->playtime until
4:00 Breastmilk 6-7 ounces
4:30 playtime til dinner (sometimes the babies need a power nap if their afternoon nap was too short)
5:30 Dinner of pureed meat and veggie
6:30 Bath
7:00 Bedtime milk bottle 8-9 ounces
8:00 Asleep
And that's about it. Both babies still wake in the night for a feeding. I think Jacob is close to sleeping through the night. Two times last week, he didn't wake for a feeding and last night he only drank 2 ounces. Joaquin still wakes for a feeding of about 4 ounces. Both boys have fussy nights and well rested nights. In good form, they usually alternate with fussy nights. I try to get the boys out at least once or twice during the week, but the options are quite limited when I am alone. It is very hard to get out with them and lug all their stuff and feed them or change them in public places. Now that their Tia Jackie is gone, my days seem longer. Sometimes, I watch the clock, counting down the hours until Javier comes home. Sometimes, I look at the clock and can't believe that it's almost over.
This past weekend, we went to a friend's house for their son's first birthday party. It was the Jacob and Joaquin's first social event. They were cute as can be and very well behaved. There were three families there that we knew from Quantico, Virginia, so it was nice to catch up and see how everyone's babies have grown. Sunday, we spent some time at the mall. We had to cancel our usual Sunday trip to the pool because of terrible weather.
In the coming months, we have more birthday parties to attend. It will serve as a reminder of the party plans that I need to make for the boys. I'm hoping my mom will be able to come out and help us throw them a birthday party with some Korean traditions.
Also, last Friday, Javier and I had a date night. We went out to dinner at a Marina restaurant and went on a sunset cruise. Afterwards, we had drinks and went out for a little salsa dancing. It was a rare treat and a nice date. I hope we have more in the future.
We are really looking forward to our trip to Texas in a few weeks. It will be great to see the family and introduce the boys to the rest of their relatives that they haven't met. Life is good. A little hectic and very busy, but still very good. I love my boys.
