Yay! Our little family is finally reunited and it's been great. I'm sorry this post is coming almost 2 weeks after Javier has come home, but I'm sure it's understandable that our family has been basking in the blissful glow of happiness. And I just recently received the photos we took from the day Javier came home. I wanted to share them in the first post since his return.
Needless to say, the boys were overjoyed to see their Papi. Correction, Jacob and Joaquin were ecstatic. Sebastian was a little cautious at first but after a few hours, he warmed up to his Papi. After a couple of days, he was squirming out of my arms and running to Javier. Aaaahhh...the power of Papi's love. The boys love their Papi.
Of course, I also have been over the moon with Javier's return. After 7 long months, it feels unbelievably wonderful to have him home. My stress level has decreased almost completely. I can rest easier and I'm actually going to bed before midnight. It's great to have my parent partner back in town. He helps with all the caretaking duties and the boys are loving every second of it. And I have someone to snuggle on the couch after the boys go to bed and the house is quiet. In a few months we will celebrate 14 years of marriage. It's been a long road, but we are still going strong.
These photos were taken in front of our house. Javier returned to the base at 3:30 in the morning which is a horrible time to wake up 3 young children and drag them to an unheated hangar to wait around and then suffer their crabbiness the rest of the day. Plus it was about 40 degrees which is just a bit too chilly for my taste. So I the photographer came to our home a few hours later in the morning so we could capture some photos on the same day of his return. It's not what I had intended, but they came out just fine. I had that sign made a few months ago. I think it turned out pretty nice.
So, I would like to say that the only thing on our agenda is relaxing and having fun as a family, but that is not the case. We are gearing up to move to New York in a few short weeks. Javier is leaving soon to go househunting and I will stay at home with the boys. He'll get to see more properties without 3 needy boys in tow. Then we will be preparing our home and ourselves for the big move. Luckily, my father in law, Sammy, will be coming out for about a week to help us with this transition. It is going to be a huge help to have another adult during this stressful time. We are exceedingly excited about this move. It is a rare opportunity for us to move to the big apple for a few years on the government's tab. We are looking forward to all the wonderful things that the city has to offer. The adventure is upon us and I'm looking forward to documenting it here.
