This past week has really flown by. I can remember sitting in the airport bar in Liberia with all of my colleagues one week ago as if it was just yesterday. We were all very excited about getting on the big airplane and leaving Africa well behind us. It was a long 6 month deployment for all of us and we were ready to come home. I was particularly excited because Latrice and I are planning to start a family this year. We are at a good point in our lives to start to expand the Garcia gene pool. I have 5 years of duty left in the Marine Corps before I can retire and Latrice is well on her way with her professional career. We are coming up on our 10 year wedding anniversary and we have endured 3 deployments away from each other. It is time and we are both very excited.

Year of Change
So it's 2008 and that means a year of change for us. It's time for us to move this summer. Don't know where yet. We hope to know next month. So that means we'll be moving and I'll have to get a new job. Also on the agenda this year is expanding our gene pool. A cause of some major celebration is our upcoming 10 year anniversary. It feels so strange for me to say "10 year". That sounds so long, and it has felt so short. It's a major milestone for us. I remember when we were first married, I didn't really think that far out, and now that it is here, I am pleasantly surprised at how fast it passed. We don't have any firm plans yet, especially because we have to find out when and where we're moving this summer. We will also have to try and attend Javier's brother's wedding which happens to be the day after our anniversary. Odd coincidence, but maybe it will be a good omen for them. I hope to update this site a little better than I've been doing for my myspace page.
In other news, Javier will be returning home in 2 weeks. He's been deployed to Liberia, Africa for 6 months, and I'm very glad for him to come home.

My new spot
This is the first post to my new spot... my blogspot. This spot is hopefully going to chronicle important milestones and other news. Javier's crossing his fingers for baby news. We'll see. And anyone else will see, from this website.
